The government has released its Technical Review of Approved Document B of the Building Regulations which contains a summary of responses received in relation to its call for evidence.
A total of 140 individuals/organisations responded to the consultation, submitting a total of 1,342 separate responses. Following analysis of these responses the government stated that although there is a clear desire for change, it is also recognised that there is a need for comprehensive research in order to ensure that any changes clearly represent expert consensus based on a robust evidence base. Although this work is expected to take some years to complete, the government has announced that it is looking to swiftly address some of the more pressing issues and will prioritise those issues affecting high-rise residential buildings.
